由于之前在KRYPT租用的一台服务器负荷很高(主要是磁盘IO),造成上面站点在高峰时运行缓慢,因此想尝试换一台双硬盘的服务器,看看是否能够缓解。正好GODADDY有比较适合的独立主机方案,犹豫了一两个星期(主要是担心网络状况),终于决定购买一试。我选择了经济型的主机主机方案,原价是109.99美元/月,使用30%优惠码后仅付76.99。
完成支付几个小时后,服务器上架了,PING测试发现经常丢包(每次大概只持续10秒左右,但问题出现频繁),于是借助GOOGLE翻译写信联系技术支持:
I am in China, Today, PING my server frequent packet loss. Can you help me to optimize the routing? Thank you!
也不太清楚翻译的这句话能够让老外准确理解到我的意思,我只是想告诉他,从中国访问这台服务器时大量丢包,希望他们帮我调整路由。过了几个小时,收到答复:
Dear ** Zhang,
Thank you for contacting Server Support regarding your Dedicated Server. Please note that we are unable to adjust or optimize the routing from your location. Using a third party service we currently cannot duplicate any packet loss using ping.
If you continue to receive packet loss to your server we would recommend contacting your ISP as we are unable to duplicate this issue and we are unable to optimize your routing for your location. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

很遗憾,他们无法帮我调整路由。但根据在KRYPT的经验,一些IDC是可以改变数据经过的线路的。没办法,调整不了继续观察几天吧。接下来的两天,我彻底无语了,不是偶尔丢包的问题,而仅仅只能偶尔畅通。看来这台服务器是没法用了,浪费了76.99美元,打算在网络通畅的时候,上去体验WIN2008系统,胡乱折腾一下吧!但是后来越想越不关心,百度了一下,发现很多朋友购买域名、虚拟主机后都可以申请退款,那我是不是可以退掉这台服务器呢?虽然翻译英文有点麻烦,但还是试试吧,现在后台取消了我的服务器,然后给他们提交了以下邮件:
Hello,
Sorry, my English is poor ...
My server does not work properly in China... Severe packet loss.
So I canceled it today.
Please help me apply a refund to my original card. Thanks.

这里要大赞一下GODADDY了。要知道,要是在国内服务商处购买产品,想要回钱,完全就是做梦,少数大型服务商可以退款吧,又是让你填表,又是让你传身份证件,然后审批上一周两周的,总之别想那么爽快!GODADDY这一点上真的值得称赞!
